December is the most popular time for couples to get engaged, with the wedding planning starting shortly after. To help couples planning their 2025 weddings, the experts at leading wedding planning marketplace Hitched.co.uk have compiled a list of Glasgow’s most popular wedding venues, according to previous happy couples.
By looking at the number of customer reviews on Hitched, the average star rating and whether the venue has received a Hitched Wedding Award, these are the most popular venues across Glasgow:
1. Citation
With one Hitched Wedding Award under its belt and 35 five-star reviews to its name, Citation is one of the most popular wedding venues in Glasgow. Nestled in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City, Citation is a stunning Neoclassical landmark offering a unique blend of historic charm and modern sophistication.
Recent bride Adriana commented on Hitched: “We could not have picked a more perfect venue for our wedding reception. We were obsessed with the building and decor as we wanted a contemporary, city centre wedding and Citation ticked all the boxes!
“A highlight of ours was our menu tasting - it was like a private dining experience and the food was unreal! From the canapés to the wedding breakfast, everyone commented on how much they loved it!
“We were quite literally waited on the entire day and the staff in particular made us feel so special and important. The layout was great as well to allow people space to sit and chat, but also plenty of room at the dance floor - especially for our Ceilidh which went down an absolute treat!
“Thanks to Citation, we had the perfect wedding day from start to finish. They helped create memories for us which will last a lifetime and every time we walk past, we will be reminded of how we celebrated the most important day of our lives in one of Glasgow’s most iconic and memorable venues.”
2. Inglewood House & Spa
This picturesque stately home in Clackmannanshire boasts expansive landscaped grounds and many original features from times gone by. With 17 five-star reviews from happy newlyweds, this property is perfect for those dreaming of a fairytale wedding in the heart of Scotland.
The interior at Inglewood House & Spa beautifully blends its original architecture with modern amenities for a relaxing stay. Whether couples envision a quaint ceremony or a lavish reception, this property boasts a range of one-of-a-kind event spaces. Ceremonies and receptions can be held in the Inglewood Room, Ballroom, Grand Hall, Forrester’s Restaurant, and the fully restored conservatory. These rooms showcase the site’s historical importance and sophistication.
Of the historic venue one newlywed couple left a review on Hitched saying: “The house itself is beautiful and on the day of our wedding the staff were always on hand for anything we needed. They really were there all day from when we got up until we went to bed.
“Also the food was amazing!!! So yummy!! We had the day of our dreams here! Can't wait to stay here again!”
3. Arta
In the heart of Merchant’s City, Arta is the perfect wedding venue to immerse yourself in Mediterranean culture. A gorgeous restaurant, bar, and events space where couples can enjoy cocktails and tapas surrounded by candelabra, newlyweds will revel in this venue’s diversity that combines historic charm and modern amenities. With romantic colour schemes and eclectic interiors, it is one to remember.
With consistent five-star reviews on Hitched from happy couples, recent bride Kelly called Arta “outstanding” and gave it 10/10 despite the ratings only going up to five stars. “From our first visit we were blown away. The courtyard in particular was an exceptional, traditional Spanish setting and exactly what we wanted for a reception of 35.
“I hand on heart with no hesitation recommend Arta as the place to host your wedding. The food is incredible, we had a tapa style dinner during the day and all our guests raved about this and how it wasn’t the usual wedding of some meat and vegetables. Particularly the deep fried aubergine!”
4. The National Piping Centre
Perhaps one of the more unusual of venues, this four-star hotel is a centre of excellence for the national instrument, making it the perfect choice for couples planning a traditional Scottish celebration. It has won several awards, recognising its intimate atmosphere and talented team, and has a slew of five-star ratings from happy newlyweds on Hitched.
A recently married Hitched user describes the venue as “an absolutely amazing wedding venue”, while another noted how inclusive the venue was on their big day. “The team were very good with allergens and made sure all of our guests' dietary requirements were taken care of.
“They were also just generally delightful and friendly, providing a wonderfully welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. They were also incredibly LGBT+ friendly, which was very important for us as a queer couple with a lot of LGBT+ guests.”
5. Dockyard Social
Nestled at the heart of Glasgow's West End, Dockyard Social is a multipurpose events venue home to some of the city’s best bars, street food entrepreneurs, and events. The venue has taken on many shapes in its lifetime, including a shipbuilding yard during Glasgow’s industrial age and, most recently, an egg-packing factory, before becoming one of the most popular wedding venues in Glasgow.
In a review on Hitched, newlywed David called his wedding day at Dockyard Social the “best day of our lives” and that even before the proposal he and his partner said it would be a “very interesting place to have a wedding.”
“The day itself went off without a single problem, from the ceremony that was set up so beautifully to the transition to the tables for dinner. The food itself was always a huge reason for us choosing this venue and being able to choose the vendors for the night made sure it was perfect for us and our guests. Everyone we have spoken to said how much they loved the food and how glad they were of the change from the usual wedding standard food.”
