Good Friday Walk of Witness

A large crowd gathered at the Market Cross to mark Good Friday. A cross was carried down the High Street to Church Square, where it joined a procession coming from St Barnabas. Together they returned to the Market Cross for a service led by the Rev Steve Marsh and members of the Church of the Good Shepherd.

This event is the highlight of the year for Leighton Linslade Churches Together.

Up to 150 gathered to hear the readings from the Easter story and to join in the singing. Special features this year were the distribution of hot cross buns, which also featured in the talk given by Steve Marsh, and Easter eggs.

There was a cross decorated with colourful knitted flowers to show the hope that Easter brings. Representatives of different churches read the account of the crucifixion from Luke’s Gospel.

They included leaders from Trinity Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, Hockliffe Street Baptist Church, the Quakers, the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Church of the Good Shepherd. The crowd responded warmly to the service. There is hope that Churches Together will experience new energy in the future.
