The home marked the occasion with a lively party, bringing together residents, colleagues, friends and families for an afternoon to remember.
The celebrations featured music, dancing and delicious food, topped off with thoughtful gifts for everyone.
As part of the anniversary festivities, Otterburn also participated in Exemplar Health Care’s nationwide bake-off competition. Homes across the country showcased their creativity with stunning cake designs, highlighting the talents and competitive spirit of colleagues and residents alike.
A cornerstone of the Kings Heath community
Otterburn care home plays a vital role in the local community, providing nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from dementia, neuro-disabilities and mental health conditions.
Among its areas of expertise is supporting people with Huntington’s disease, and over the past year, Otterburn has raised more than £1,800 for the Huntington’s Disease Association through various fundraising events.
Highlights include helping Patrick, a resident living with Huntington’s disease, fulfil his dream of ziplining at Zip World Wales. With the support of the care team, Patrick - a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie - completed the exhilarating challenge while raising £600 for the cause.
This inspiring achievement earned Otterburn the prestigious ‘Fundraising Group of the Year’ award at the Huntington’s Disease Association Awards, a testament to their dedication and creativity.
Recently, the team took their fundraising efforts to new heights – literally - by conquering a 14.5km hike up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales. Their determination paid off, raising an impressive £1,255 for the Huntington’s Disease Association.
Naomi Jones, Home Manager at Otterburn, shared her pride in the team’s dedication:
“This charity is so important to us, and we’re always eager to support them in any way we can. The team at Otterburn are always up for a challenge! The hike was no exception – it was tough, but we supported one another and achieved something incredible together.”
Reflecting on the home’s achievements, Naomi added:
“Since Otterburn first opened, our mission has been to make ‘every day better’ for the people we support, while making a positive impact in the local community. Celebrating this milestone with the entire Exemplar Health Care team has been so meaningful - it’s given us a chance to reflect on the incredible work we’ve done and look forward to the future.”
