Guide: Walk your way around Bristol breweries

Bristol is a thriving city with so many breweries to choose from it’s often difficult to decide where to begin. Starting at Temple Meads train station, follow this walking route to visit some of the best craft breweries the city has to offer all in one day. Make sure you’ve lined your stomach with an early lunch and that you’re wearing comfortable footwear as you’ll definitely do a fair amount of steps… give yourself a time limit of about an hour at each brewery (and maybe stick to half pints) and you’ll have a full day of fun!

Little Martha Brewing is a five minute walk from Temple Meads and is the perfect start to your afternoon in Bristol. The cosy space has been open since December 2021 and is decorated with greenery and colourful beer cans. It’s a welcoming taproom, with a few tables inside and out and space to chat to the staff at the bar. They offer an array of their own beers, guest beers, ciders and tins available to try.

The Cider Box

Address: Arch 5, Silverthorne Lane, Bristol, BS2 0QD

Saturday opening hours: 13:00 - 22:30

Your next stop is a seven minute walk to Bristol's only cider taproom pouring freshly fermented juice made on the premises in collaboration with brilliant local cidermakers, with rotating guest selections plus craft beer, natural wines and cocktails. This spot is another arch visit well worth checking out any time of the year - just make sure to wrap up warmly in winter as it can be a bit nippy with the doors open… although the hot mulled cider definitely helps!

Moor Beer Company

Address: Days Road, St Philips, Bristol, BS2 0QS

Saturday opening hours: 12:00 - 20:00

Around the corner, a quick six minute walk away, is your next stop at Moor Beer Co, who moved to this central Bristol spot in 2014. They have a wide range of their casks, kegs and cans available to try, with plenty of tables inside to sit at as well as some tables outside to enjoy the sunshine in the warmer months. You’ll be tempted to stick around at this taproom for a while, but after trying one of their delicious beers maybe grab a tin for the road as your next stop requires a bit more of a walk…

Arbor Ales Brewery & Taproom

Address: 181 Easton Rd, Easton, Bristol, BS5 0HQ

Saturday opening hours: 13:00 - 20:00

This taproom might be a bit further away, but the 20 minute walk will build up your thirst and get you ready for your next drink for sure. Arbor Ales gifted us with their taproom in October 2024 and boy, are we grateful for that! The space is fairly small, so seating is a bit limited but as it’s a bit further away you might not need to worry about battling the crowds. They generally have four beers on tap, and have over 20 different can options to try.

Wiper and True Brewery & Taproom

Address: Unit 11, City Business Park, Easton Road, Bristol, BS5 0SP

Saturday opening hours: 12:00 - 23:00

Now that you’re past the halfway mark it’s time to start heading back to the river. The 13 minute walk to Wiper and True’s Taproom is well worth it when you get to this brilliant location. The brewery is a destination venue with a 500-capacity space ranging across indoors, where you can check out the impressive silver fermentation vessels, and a selection of covered and open tables in their large beer garden. If you’re feeling a bit peckish you can grab one of their freshly made pizzas from the resident kitchen, Pig's Pizza. This is definitely a spot I’d suggest staying at for a little longer to enjoy everything they have on offer.

New Bristol Brewing

Address: 20a Wilson St, Bristol, BS2 9HH

Saturday opening hours: 13:00 - 22:30

As the day is coming to an end, this taproom is great to head to as it gets darker. New Bristol Brewing is a 17 minute walk back into the heart of the city, and offers 22 lines of the tastiest New Bristol Brewery beers, as well as their freshest releases in cans. They have plenty of tables available indoors and outdoors, as well as food available to order from their shipping container kitchen, currently serving I Scream Taco.

Left Handed Giant Brewpub

Address: Hawkins Lane, Finzels Reach, Bristol, BS1 6EU

Saturday opening hours: 12:00 - 01:00

And the final stop! A quick 15 minute walk will have you end your brewery tour at the famous Left Handed Giant Prewpub. This is a great space to end the night with beer, pizzas (all vegetarian, but they do have meat-alternative options), pool, darts and even a photobooth on offer. Split across three levels along with an outdoor seating area this venue gets busy but you shouldn’t have to wait too long for a table, and when you’re done it’s an easy stroll along the river back to the train station.

Seven taprooms and roughly 10k steps later, you’ve completed your day of brewery visits… Well done! Get home safe, drink lots of water, and dream about all your favourite beers from the day.

* Special mention to the following breweries you can add to your ‘must visit’ list if you want to try and fit in a few extras or even come back another day:
