Rooftop Tours – A View Like No Other
On selected dates—1, 5, and 16 April at 6pm—adventurous visitors can climb Stowe’s cantilevered stairs to reach the very top of the house. The reward? A breath-taking view stretching across Buckinghamshire and beyond, covering five counties. This rare opportunity allows visitors to see Stowe House from an entirely new perspective, appreciating its architecture and surroundings from dizzying heights. Due to the nature of the tour, rooftop access is restricted to adults only. Tickets are £15 per person.
Secrets of Stowe Tour – Uncover Hidden History
On 6 April at 6pm and 14 April at 11am, the Secrets of Stowe Tour offers a fascinating glimpse into areas of the house rarely open to the public. Step beyond the usual visitor route and explore the intricate Gothic Library, a masterpiece designed by Sir John Soane. Discover the elegance of the Japan Room and get up close to newly uncovered 18th-century wall paintings. Visitors may even witness conservation work in action. This immersive tour is perfect for those with a love of history and curiosity about the secrets hidden within Stowe’s walls. Tickets are £15 for adults (16+) and £6 for children.
A Quieter Time to Explore
For those seeking a more relaxed visit, now is the ideal time to explore Stowe House at their own pace. With Stowe School currently on holiday, visitors can enjoy the grand state rooms without the crowds, before the busy Easter period begins. Open daily from 10:30am to 4:30pm, this is the perfect opportunity to take in the splendour of this historic site in a peaceful setting.

Advance booking is recommended for all tours. General admission to Stowe House is £9.50 for adults, with National Trust members benefitting from a discounted rate of £7.50. Children under 16 go free with a paying adult. Historic Houses members enjoy free entry.
