Buxton Community Choir donate to Ashgate Hospice

With Christmas a distance memory and the focus now on the spring events it was a good opportunity to reflect on how Buxton Community Choirs (BCC) Christmas 2024 concerts success had been able to bring some joy to various audiences from residential homes to the main event at St Johns Church Buxton. During the events the choir collected for Ashgate hospice raising £639. The cheque was presented to Matt Otty of Ashgate Hospice by the Choirs chairperson Teresa Oxley.

Matt Otty of Ashgate Hospice accepts donation from Teresa Oxley, Chairperson of Buxton Community Choir.

The donation to Ashgate Hospice, a local charity, follows the choirs values, as at the heart of the choir it is about community.

The choir is an open and inclusive place for all adults who want to sing. BCC strive to create fun and take pleasure in seeing members make friends and develop their singing talents through their participation in it.

This approach has guided the Buxton Community Choir from strength to strength as a mixed voice choir of 68 singers who, under the direction of Chris Blackshaw, create a well-rounded sound and tremendous harmonies as witnessed in the summer 2024 fringe concerts.

Buxton Community Choir meet on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at the Methodist Church, Market Place Buxton and are currently rehearsing for the spring and summer concerts. You can follow the choir on Facebook or visit the website:  www.buxtoncommunitychoir.co.uk
