Amazing Kimberley twins aiming to complete peaks challenge treble

Two young twin girls from Kimberley are hoping to complete a remarkable hat-trick this week.

Sophie and Jessica Wright from Kimberley are aiming to complete the Three Peaks hat-trick by doing the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge this week.

In June 2023 Sophie and Jessica Wright completed the National Three Peaks in 24 hours raising £6,012 to transform their school playground, Holywell Primary in Kimberley.

Then in August the same year, they wanted to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks and achieved the massive endurance challenge in 11hr 50min.

Now, before they both turn eight years-old on May 8, they want to complete the set by conquering the Welsh Three Peaks on Friday, May 3.

The Welsh challenge includes a total walking distance of 17 miles and an ascent of 2,334 metres, completed in less than 24 hours.

To put that into perspective, that's a greater ascent than the Yorkshire Three Peaks over a shorter walking distance.

Should they succeed, they will be the youngest twins to have completed all the three UK Three Peaks Challenges in 12 months.

Jay Wright, the girls’ dad, said: “They have fundraised every year since 2020 and have so far raised a total of £7,229

"In May 2020, they raised £470 for the NHS during Covid by doing a birthday cake sale on the drive.

“In April 2021 they raised £558 for the Captain Sir Tom Moore Foundation for the NHS charities by doing 100 laps of Basil Russell Park

"In July 2022 they raised £189 doing a cake sale for Rainbows and then in June last year they raised £6,012 by completing the National Three Peaks for Hollywell school playground.

“They have done amazingly and want the total raised to hit £10,000 which means they have a target of £2,771 to raise for Children in Need.

"They chose the charity themselves and want to help children to have a better life
