Broxtowe Council drives housing programme to meet local needs

Broxtowe Council is taking steps to address local housing needs across the borough by actively pushing forward with its ambitious Housing Delivery Programme.

The programme is intended to enable the authority to make significant strides in advancing key development projects, ensuring a diverse range of housing options for council tenants.

Part of the plans include a project on Cross Street in Eastwood to create six one-bed flats and two two-bed flats that will initially be offered to ex-military veterans once completed.

Another part of the plan is the Inham Nook development site in Chilwell, which is on track for completion this summer, providing 15 affordable homes for social rent thanks to a £945,000 Homes England Grant with a mixture of two-bed and three-bed houses and one-bed flats.

A further five affordable homes for social rents are being built at the Farm Cottage site in Bramcote, due to be complete in May 2025, thanks to a £375,000 Homes England Grant.

The development will feature one three-bed wheelchair-accessible house, two three-bed houses and two one-bed flats.

All homes have been built with Air Source Heat Pumps and Photovoltaic panels to minimise carbon emissions and will help keep fuel bills as low as possible for future tenants.

Coun Vanessa Smith (Brox Alliance), portfolio holder for housing, said: "We’re really proud of the progress we’re making on our Housing Delivery Programme.

"This is a key priority for us at Broxtowe as we’re committed to providing quality homes and cutting down our housing waiting list.

"I’m really pleased that we will be offering brand new, spacious homes for those that need it most."
