Both will be happening on June 6 – the actual anniversary date of D-Day itself.
At 8am in Toll Bar Square, a town crier will read the D-Day 80 beacons proclomation.
Then between 8.40pm and 9.45pm, a beacon will be lit at The Chapel on the Hill, Knowle Hill.
Coun Milan Radulovic (Lab), Broxtowe Council leader, said: “D-Day is one of the most significant events in our history and it is right that we should commemorate this important anniversary to recognise the sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom.
"As ever, the Broxtowe community has really come together to ensure we pay a fitting tribute to our armed forces heroes.”
Other events going on throughout the borough will include D-Day-themed activities, freedom parade, commemorative services, flag-raising events for the Flag of Peace, afternoon teas and open days.
