Age Concern Eastwood are delighted with the high specification steam oven they were able to purchase last Autumn. It replaced the faulty cooker which made the kitchen extremely hot. This meant there was no need to replace the outdated extraction system. The UNOX was recommended for long term professional catering use so funds were sought to help with the cost. Our wonderful local councillors were able to help by directing us to community funds.
Pictured visiting the Colin Dyson Centre on Monday 10th June are the Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council and Eastwood Hilltop Councillor, Milan Radulovic and Rob Bullock, Councillor for Eastwood Hall and Trustee of Age Concern. Broxtowe Council were able to supply £2000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, thanks to their actions. £1500 came from County Councillor Kane Oliver via the Divisional Fund. Cllr Oliver was unable to visit and see the new oven but the generous contribution was much appreciated. Dave and Kathryn Boam gave us £500 from the Dog and Parrot Community Fund. Dave came to present the cheque last Autumn. This money was generated by the pub regulars so a true community effort for which Eastwood folk are heartily thanked. The combined value of this plus Age Concerns own input mean that the Colin Dyson Lunch Club on Edward Road, Eastwood, can continue to supply freshly cooked hot meals for many years to come.
