The concert, to be conducted by Mark Prescott, starts at 7.30pm and is launched by a performance of Richard Strauss’s exuberant tone poem Don Juan, a work that established him as one of Europe’s most exciting young composers when it was premiered in 1889.
The concert also features Samuel Barber's lyrical and attractive Violin Concerto, with Darragh Morgan as the talented guest soloist, and Elgar’s much-loved Enigma Variations, one of the most popular pieces of English classical music, with the stunning slow movement Nimrod at its heart.
