Redrow sponsored all participants in the race who were running to raise money for the charity.
5,000 runners took part in this year’s Wilmslow Running Festival on Sunday, March 23. The event was first held back in 1984 and offers runners a choice of two routes – a 10k or half marathon.
One of the runners, Redrow designer, Jack Bennion, from Chester, ‘smashed’ his own PB, finishing the 10k race in one hour and two minutes.
“This was my first official run, and I really enjoyed it, smashing my personal best. There where so many runners there making an incredible atmosphere,” said Jack, 28.
“Redrow has been supporting Bare Necessities for a number of years now. It’s such a great cause so I put myself forward to represent Redrow. Now I hope to continue running as a hobby moving forward.”
Established by Wendy Hobson and a friend in 2018, Bare Necessities collects and distributes toiletries and hygiene products to those in need within the North West.
Today, Wendy and her team of over 30 volunteers work with 35 different organisations and charities, including food banks, schools and women’s aid.
“Thank you to everyone at Redrow for sponsoring all our runners who took part this year,” said Wendy.
“We had 25 runners taking part on behalf of Bare Necessities. A big thank you each and every one of them, and to Jack for taking part. It was a great event, and we were very pleased to be the charity partner.”
