London based Numan – a digital healthcare company has announced a major expansion of its men's health service to address testosterone deficiency, a condition affecting millions of men in the UK.

London based Numan expands offering for testosterone deficiency

To support its growth, Numan has appointed Dr. Ben Davis and Dr. Angela Wright, both clinical sexologists with extensive expertise in men’s hormonal health and sexual dysfunction, as co-leads of the new TRT and sexual medicine team. They will oversee clinical development and patient care strategies within this expanded service.

Dr Ben Davis is a practising GP and sexual medicine specialist, as well as a trained sex and relationship therapist. Alongside his role at Numan, Dr Ben runs a successful Harley Street practice and works within the NHS. He is one of only a few clinicians in the UK with both a medical and therapeutic background.

Similarly, Dr Angela Wright is an experienced GP, menopause specialist and clinical sexologist, also trained in both sexual medicine and in sex and relationship therapy. She is the co-founder of Spiced Pear Health and will bring her knowledge in creating bespoke and patient-led approaches to supporting sexual dysfunction beyond medication to the Numan service.

The testosterone service is founded on five core principles including, accessibility for all men, evidence based patient first care, balanced, responsible diagnosis and treatment, a safe, open environment and holistic health context.

As a leader in the medical weight loss space, Numan can take a holistic approach to support patients' overall health, recognising that many individuals with obesity also experience low testosterone levels. By addressing both weight management and hormone health, Numan offers comprehensive care that aligns with the interconnected needs of these patients. It also means that the company can provide patients with truly tailored solutions that address testosterone as a common yet often underserved health concern among men.

The expanded TRT team and additional medications reflect Numan’s mission to make men’s health more accessible, personalised, and effective.

Dr Ben Davis, co-lead of Numan’s TRT and sexual medicine team, said:

“Many men struggle to access help for sexual difficulties, and avoid going to the doctor. Even when they do seek help, their sexual symptoms are often ignored and important diagnoses missed. Testosterone deficiency is an often misdiagnosed condition and something men struggle to get help for. Estimates vary between 2 and 5% of men are suffering from testosterone deficiency, with levels as high as 30% in men with type 2 diabetes and obesity.

"At Numan, we’re excited to have established a sexual medicine service guided by the British Society of Sexual Medicine’s guidelines, making high-quality care more accessible and removing barriers for men to receive evidence-based treatment conveniently from their own homes."

Dr Angela Wright, co-lead of Numan’s TRT and sexual medicine team, added:

“In the UK, menopause is generally managed by GPs - however, the same cannot be said about testosterone deficiency, where there are real barriers to recognition and care.

"Whilst lower testosterone levels can occur in up to one in four men during their lifetime, a lower proportion are likely to experience the symptoms of testosterone deficiency and actually need treatment. Equally many men have symptoms that might mimic testosterone deficiency when testosterone deficiency is not the problem. A lack of understanding of these nuances have led to men historically being both under- and over-treated.  There is a real opportunity to change the way testosterone and testosterone deficiency are understood - making it easier for men to access high quality, responsible and evidence based care for their hormonal health. With the expanded offering at Numan, we’re not just focusing on diagnosis - we’re looking at the full spectrum of care, from lifestyle adjustments, weight loss support, suggesting psychotherapeutic approaches, as well as medical treatment.”

Numan has also partnered with Marius, the leading US pharmaceutical company, to offer increased options for medication for testosterone deficiency. Rolled out from September 2024, the additional options offered through this partnership will expand Numan’s treatment portfolio enabling patients to access a wide range of treatments under the guidance of their clinician

With this partnership, Numan continues to expand its commitment to men’s health, delivering tailored treatment programs that address the root causes of testosterone deficiency and support overall wellbeing.

Sokratis Papafloratos, CEO and founder of Numan, commented:

“Our partnership with Marius represents a significant milestone for Numan and our customers. By working with Amit and his team, we can deliver innovative and effective treatments to our patients suffering with testosterone deficiency in the UK. Moreover, with Dr Ben Davis and Dr Angela Wright as part of the Numan team, we can be even bolder in our ambitions to redefine what men’s health means in the UK - offering patients greater choice and control over their health and overall wellbeing.”
