Last week from April 8-13, Humanscale unveiled Humanscale Living at arguably the highlight of the design calendar, Salone del Mobile in Milan.
For over 40 years, Humanscale’s award-winning designs have pioneered comfort and wellbeing in the workplace. Humanscale Living builds on this heritage of ergonomic excellence, bringing a softer, more residential aesthetic to the home office whilst also introducing new categories including stools, tables and lounge seating. Careful not to follow trends Humanscale Living is a collection of minimalist timeless design that put intuitive functionality first.
Products in the collection include: the forthcoming Diffrient Lounge chair, eFloat Quattro table, Sedeo, Freedom, Summa, and Trea Task Lite.
Diffrient Lounge Chair
The Diffrient Lounge chair, Humanscale’s first lounge chair, was previewed at Salone ahead of its official launch at Fulton Market Design Days in June. Designed by legendary industrial designer Niels Diffrient, Diffrient Lounge merges exceptional comfort and beauty for the modern balance of work and leisure. At its core is a custom-engineered recline mechanism that delivers effortless movement with a slim, refined silhouette not often seen in lounge seating.
The independently adjustable back and headrest create a personalised experience, adapting to the user with intuitive ease. Thoughtful details, like integrated USB charging, discreet adjustment buttons, and an optional swivel table, support working comfortably from the chair without compromising on its residential feel. A liberation from the desk, this next-generation lounge chair adapts to how you live, work, and unwind.
eFloat Quattro
A sleek electric sit/stand table, eFloat Quattro is ideal for the home environment. Featuring a light versatile profile, and available in a range of premium worksurface materials and finishes, it adds warmth to any environment whilst supporting healthy movement throughout the day.
Sedeo
Don Chadwick brings ergonomics to stool seating with the creation of Sedeo. Available in both bar and counter height, Sedeo employs the use of contours in the seat shell to encourage better posture and promote spine health. The understated design comes in a variety of finishes to ensure that Sedeo seamlessly adapts to any environment.
Freedom
For over 25 years, Humanscale's Freedom Headrest has been a symbol of ergonomic innovation and timeless design. Designed by legendary industrial designer Niels Diffrient, it redefined what a task chair could be by eliminating traditional adjustments and relying instead on the user’s body weight and natural movements. Its groundbreaking self-adjusting recline and dynamic support system provide customised comfort without the need for knobs or levers, setting a new standard for simplicity and elegance in design.
Summa
Luxurious and effortlessly simple, Summa features a weight-compensating recline mechanism and integrated armrests for unexpected comfort and support throughout the day. The beautiful design makes it the perfect addition to any home whether as an executive task or occasional chair.
Trea Task Lite
The Trea Task Lite is a Red Dot Award-winning design that combines ergonomic support with clean lines and a customisable aesthetic. Designed by Todd Bracher, Trea mimics the human body’s natural recline and embraces its sitter in a supportive shell whilst employing a waterfall-edge to soften pressure on the back of the knees for the user. Trea has a net positive certification, with every Trea produced making a quantifiable impact towards reversing climate damage.
Humanscale Living rethinks what a workspace can be - creating solutions that integrate seamlessly into the home, both in function and form. Through thoughtfully selected materials, refined finishes and timeless design, its products become a natural extension of home life supporting work without compromising the space that we live in.
