A new mural unveiled by L+ Architects is drawing attention in East Sheen, offering a visual intersection of nature and design as part of the Sheen Art Trail. Created by local artist Anna Starling, the large-scale artwork has been installed across the windows of the architectural practice’s premises, engaging passersby and adding a fresh perspective to the local high street.

The artwork explores themes of biophilic design, a concept that integrates natural elements into built environments, and echoes L+ Architects' broader design ethos of connecting people with nature through architecture. According to Pablo Lambrechts, Principal Architect at the firm, the piece represents more than an aesthetic addition. “This mural is more than just art—it’s a celebration of biophilic design and the power of creativity to reimagine the high street,” he said.

The installation comes at a time when many high streets face declining footfall and increasing vacancies. Through this collaboration, L+ Architects aims to demonstrate how public art can contribute to revitalising local environments and fostering a renewed sense of community. The initiative also marks the firm’s expansion into interiors and landscaping services, extending its portfolio beyond architectural design to include a more integrated approach to the built environment.

Lambrechts said the practice hopes the mural serves as a prompt for broader conversations about the role of creativity in urban regeneration. “Art has the power to elevate everyday spaces,” he said. “This work reflects our belief in design that strengthens the relationship between people and their surroundings.”

The mural will remain on display for a limited time as part of the Sheen Art Trail. Members of the public are invited to visit, engage with the piece, and reflect on its themes.
