Can a Shoreditch DJ go viral in 30 days?

An up-and-coming Shoreditch drum and bass DJ and producer is trying to go viral after starting out with 0 followers on social media to launch his career and get noticed by music industry insiders.

DJ and music producer Ben Furner

Ben Furner, 22 who is studying music production at PointBlank Music School, has set himself a 30-day social media challenge ahead of the release of his latest single, Games, on May 1st.

Tagging himself Furnetic, No Label, no Limits, Ben says: “This challenge is about taking control and showing people that you don’t need anyone’s permission to follow your dream.”

Games is Ben’s first official release and the track was made to capture summer in a song. He has multiple releases planned to follow, with his dancefloor track All You Need gaining label interest and a remix on the horizon for a prominent New Zealand artist.

“I want see how far I can go with pure hustle and talent. I want to see what can be done in 30 days with no budget and no industry connections. I want to build something from nothing to prove it can be done,” he says.

His aims include getting the song on the radio, encouraging DJ’s to play it, securing media coverage and building a fanbase.

As part of the challenge, he’s released a bootleg remix of Discolines’ track “Sunny” on SoundCloud which went viral within his fanbase and clocked up 270 streams in the first 24 hours. He has also received encouragement from DJ Fat Tony and Vibe Chemistry.
