The sessions will be run by a Thera-Build® licensed practitioner, using principles from the therapeutic approach that uses LEGO® bricks as a medium for children to explore their emotions, develop social skills and build confidence.
The sessions are designed for children aged 6-12* with SEN, including autism and other neurodivergent needs; brick loving siblings are also very welcome. Parents and carers are asked to stay and enjoy the session and to assist where necessary. The sessions will run in the dedicated family space, with a small garden and chill out space.
During the collaborative building session, children will create a group build which celebrates diversity in the community and encourages understanding. Within the build, children will be using LEGO® minifigures featuring the official Sunflower lanyard, promoting awareness and inclusion across different age groups and themes.
The bespoke programme for Parkwood Leisure is designed using the guiding principles of Thera-Build®, a session that supports children with SEN and promotes building confidence, raising self-esteem, and encouraging purposeful conversation.
Crook Log continues to run a full programme of SEN activities including family swimming fun and floats, recreation SEN gymnastics and dedicated SEN sessions on the X-Treme Air Inflatable.
