Opting to stay as close to the community as possible, the store has relocated to nearby Church Street – taking over an empty unit in the heart of Eccles town centre.
To celebrate the store relocation, the team at Specsavers Eccles organised a ribbon cutting and entertainment – with the guest of honour being the City of Salford’s ceremonial mayoress, Cllr Tanya Burch.
The Madam Mayor was given a tour of the new store and had a chat with store directors, Saheda Begum and Mohammed Shakeel, before gathering at the front of the store to cut the ribbon.
Celebrations continued throughout the day with a stilt walker, face painting, and a balloon arch on offer for anyone visiting the new store, as well as cake and goody bags being given out.
Saheda, optometrist partner at the store, says: ‘Specsavers Eccles has always had a strong connection with the local community, and we’re incredibly excited about this relocation. This investment allows us to offer even better eyecare and hearing services, ensuring we can meet the growing needs of our patients.
‘The current economic climate can be challenging for high streets, but we’re committed to investing in Eccles and continuing to provide high-quality, accessible eyecare for years to come. We’re proud to be part of the regeneration of the area and look forward to welcoming new and existing patients to our new store.’
The store has been a part of the Eccles the community for 15 years, and the relocation gives the Specsavers team an opportunity to increase its eye and hearing offering to locals.
The new site means an additional two optical rooms will be available, as well as a dedicated audiology room with a state-of-the-art hearing booth. This means patients will be able to have the most advanced hearing assessments and audiology services available.
The store will also have a new dedicated contact lens area and additional audiology appointments – including additional wax removal services.
In the future, the store is also looking to introduce DVLA eye test services and independent prescribing (IP) services.
Mohammed, the store’s retail director, adds: ‘It was a wonderful day for the store. This move has been long in the works and to celebrate the big day with the Madam Mayor and plenty of fun and entertainment was the perfect way to get started.
‘We’re excited to get going and to continue our support and treatment of the Eccles community.’
