Marie Curie launches ‘Beat the Trails’ – a new hiking challenge at Hadrian’s Wall

The UK’s leading end-of-life charity, Marie Curie, is inviting adventurers from the North East to lace up their boots and take on an exhilarating trek along Hadrian’s Wall this summer.

Do something amazing and sign up to beat Hadrian's Wall

Introducing Beat the Trails, a brand-new hiking series taking place on Saturday, July 5. Participants can choose between two challenging yet rewarding distances—11 miles or 22 miles—both set against the stunning backdrop of the iconic Hadrian’s Wall. The event begins and ends in Haltwhistle, offering an unforgettable experience for all involved.

Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum of £207, which helps fund nine hours of overnight nursing care for people living with a terminal illness. Marie Curie’s dedicated fundraising team will be on hand to provide training tips, support, and exciting incentives. Those who reach their pledge will receive a Beat the Trails T-shirt, and upon crossing the finish line, participants will be awarded a medal and a glass of bubbly to mark their achievement.

Additionally, the first 250 people to sign up will receive an exclusive 2025 Beat the Trails patch, perfect for adding to their T-shirt or rucksack as a badge of honor.

The event is open to individuals aged 14 and over, with participants under 18 required to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
