Mark, who joined Cassidy + Ashton in 2022, is a highly skilled chartered building surveyor with a wide range of experience working in the education, healthcare and commercial sectors.
The appointment is in recognition of Mark’s hard work and commitment to the practice over the last few years, in particular his role in developing its building surveying team’s graduate surveyors with their Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) APC training.
Mark has successfully delivered the annual schools surveying programme for several dioceses across the North West. He has also played a key role in expanding Cassidy + Ashton’s presence into new sectors, including a growing network of multi-academy trusts and Lancashire local authorities.
In addition, Mark has strengthened the practice’s position as one of the leading church surveyors to the Diocese of Blackburn.
Most recently, Mark represented Cassidy + Ashton as the lead building surveying consultant on the year-long restoration and repair of Blackpool’s iconic Grand Theatre, which was completed in February 2025.
Speaking about the promotion, Phil Gornall, director and head of the building surveying team at our Preston office, said: “Mark is a knowledgeable and accomplished chartered building surveyor with a broad range of skills and experience.
“Mark has worked hard to help consolidate Cassidy + Ashton as one of the region’s most sought after and well-regarded building surveying services. His addition to the senior management team will also help strengthen our commitment to deliver a first-class service to our many and varied clients.”
Mark achieved a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in building surveying, from the University of Central Lancashire in 2010 and gained his Chartered membership in building surveying with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor (RICS) in November 2019.
In 2020 he qualified as an Incorporated Member of the Association of Project Safety (IMaPS), a valuable qualification that enables Mark to provide Cassidy + Ashton’s clients with support on the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and with general health and safety advice.
Mark said: “My appointment as an associate at Cassidy + Ashton is a proud moment in my career. I’m excited to continue building strong relationships with both existing and new clients, while supporting the senior management team in achieving our strategic objectives.
“In this new role, I look forward to delivering a wide range of project and professional services across our industry sectors, and I’m particularly looking forward to contributing to innovative and challenging schemes.
“Mentoring my building surveying colleagues is also something I’m truly passionate about, and supporting them on their journey to Chartered status as we continue to strengthen and grow our talented team.”
