Bexhill Sailing Club Spring Series

The weekend at Bexhill Sailing Club kicked off with a fun quiz on Friday evening. Ten rounds of 10 questions, plus two handout rounds, prepared by our Social Committee and hosted by our Commodore. Even with 100+ questions, there were only 3 points separating the teams by the end. But it was the Boniface/Wynn team "At The Back" that triumphed, congratulations!

Spring Series 4 & 5 Slow Fleet winner Richard Eagleton

A bit of background to our racing... the boats sail in 'Fleets' depending on their PY (Portsmouth Yardstick) handicap numbers. These handicaps mean different boats can race each other on a fairer basis. Smaller dinghies have higher handicap numbers and are in the Slow Fleet.

The Spring Series continued with both races sailed in glorious spring sunshine. However, lively winds hampered the sailors on both days.

The winds didn't put off Richard Eagleton, continuing his winning streak in Slow Fleet on both days. Mind you, he was the only Slow Fleet boat to launch on Sunday, so the win was a given!

No Fast Fleet dinghies competed on Saturday. Sunday's race was won on by Colin Coard, being the only boat in the Fleet to finish the race!

The Catamaran Fleet had a good weekend, with Malcolm Brookes (helm) and Ken Edwards (crew) winning on Saturday, then Flo Wright (helm) and Abi Wright (crew) winning on Sunday.

Preparations for the Club's Open Day continue. We look forward to welcoming you from 10am on Easter Monday to have a look around the Club to see if you'd like to become a sailing or social member. Details at bexhillsailing.club/openday
