East Sussex football veterans' captain represents the nation

Alan Osman, captain of East Sussex mens over 60s football team, earned further international recognition last week, as one of the England over 60s squad who competed against perennial rivals Wales and Northern Ireland and guest nation Denmark in this year's annual Four Nation League Format Spring tournament.

Osman begins the slick passing move down the left flank that resulted in one of England's four goals in their demolition of Denmark.

This year's competition was held in La Manga, in Spain and England began strongly in the warm sunshine with a 4-0 victory against Denmark. Osman was involved in the slick move that led to arguably England's best goal of the four.

However, the comfortable win against the Danes was as good as it got for the Three Lions, who failed to score in their remaining two matches against each of their fellow home nations.

A 1-0 defeat to Wales was followed by a 0-0 stalemate against Northern Ireland; the latter providing the men in green with the point they needed to win the tournament, with Wales finishing as runner's up.

Osman will next join his East Sussex teammates for their National Over 60s FA Cup Group C clash against reigning champions, Oxfordshire at Bexhill College on Sunday, April 6, 2pm kick-off.
