Therapy animals like Lexi are known to have a positive impact on emotional well-being, especially for older adults. Their company can reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and loneliness, making them a great way to improve mental health. Lexi’s visit gave everyone a chance to relax and enjoy the simple pleasure of being with an animal.
Throughout the day, Lexi visited the residents in the lounge and in their rooms. In group settings, she brought everyone together, and during one-to-one visits, she gave residents a chance to enjoy her company privately. Her loving nature helped lift the spirits of everyone she met.
Amy, Activities Coordinator at Tenchley Manor, shared, “I loved seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces when Lexi visited them in the lounge and when she went to their rooms for one-to-one time. It was really touching.”
Resident Rose added, “It was so lovely to see her, and I would love to see her again soon.”
The visit showed just how important animals can be in bringing happiness to people’s lives. It was a day filled with smiles and laughter, reminding everyone of the positive effect animals can have on our well-being.
