Eggstra special donation by Newcastle engineers

A firm of Newcastle engineers has made an egg-cellent donation to a North East food bank, helping to put a big smile on the face of local families.

Dozens of easter eggs from Seaton Burn-based RWO have been donated to the Cramlington Foodbank, which is run by national charity the Trussell Trust, at the community Hope Centre in Forum Way.

This much-needed resource, which relies on contributions from local businesses and donations from the public, hands out thousands of emergency food parcels to people in need and supports vulnerable children every year.

The kind-hearted donation comes as RWO recognises it can be hard for families struggling to cope with the rising cost of living and has made the donation to support the charity.

Emma Gibson, the company’s administration manager called in to the centre earlier this week to hand over the eggs. She said: “We wanted to help a local charity and the foodbank is an essential part of the local community in Cramlington. I’m thrilled that we have been able to contribute and we hope to have created some sweet happiness and well-being.”

Sue Coates, a volunteer at the charity, said: “We’re very grateful for the generous donation at this time of year. It’s just something really nice, particularly for families with kids who are struggling – a tasty choccy treat always brightens the day.”
