The Rhubarb Lounge is A Feast for the Senses. Step into a pink-and-green wonderland where you can enjoy a variety of rhubarb-inspired seasonal drinks and sweet treats, created in homage to the vegetable that has made Wakefield famous. Whether you're lounging in one of the plush armchairs or enjoying a refreshing rhubarb tea, cordial or cocktail, the Rhubarb Lounge is the perfect place to relax with family and friends.
The Art House is also hosting free activities for all ages. The Rhubarb Lounge is more than just a place to eat and drink – it's a celebration of community and creativity! Throughout the week, visitors of all ages can enjoy free, rhubarb-themed activities.
On Wednesday 19 and Saturday 22 February join The Art House for Screen-Printing with Rhubarb – a fun and free screen-printing session where you can create stunning art using inks made from rhubarb root.
Then on Sunday 23 February, step into The Art House’s Darkroom and explore the unique world of photography with our Cameraless Photography with Rhubarb workshop. Using a liquid made from rhubarb, participants can develop their own photographs and take home a piece of this unforgettable experience.
The Rhubarb Lounge and the hands-on activities are a chance to immerse yourself in Wakefield’s proud rhubarb heritage, explore your creativity, and connect with the community. Whether you’re enjoying a treat, creating art, or simply relaxing in the lounge, you’ll leave with lasting memories and a newfound appreciation for Wakefield’s favourite vegetable.
